THE PINXTON BRANCH - AS IT WAS

Church Bridge took the canal under Bullock Lane

....... which in this coloured photo looks VERY rural!

The original black-and-white version shows rather more detail.

The bridge where the road which is now the B600 passes pver the canal

Much discussion took place over the location for the openeing sequence in the film of D H Lawrence's "Sons & Lovers" which was filmed locally. Eventually, it was pinned down to Colliery Office Bridge, shown here as it was in the 1960's. See HERE for what we found on site in April 2006.

This photograph shows the former Pinxton Collieries Company headquarters after they had been converted into residential accommodation.

This photograph depicts what were referred to locally as `Middle Row' with `Top Row' in the background

This photograph is of Top Row and shows how near it was to the railway line.

The only known photo of "The Old House at Home" - the "other" canalside inn.
