THE TRIP BOAT "JOHN GRAY"

The Cromford Canal Society operated a successful horse-drawn trip boat along the restored section from Cromford Wharf to Lea Wood Pump House in the 1970's and 80's.

When the Cromford Canal Society was disbanded, the boat was sold into private ownership. The new owner fitted her with a cabin and used her to live on, in which form she looked like this. She was last heard of near Fenny Compton on the Grand Union Canal.
