The Western Section - Cromford Wharf to High Peak Junction

The western end of the Canal was restored to a navigable state in the 1960's and 70's.

Canal Manager Simon Stoker demonstrates the Cromford Canal Society's specially built floating dredger.

Reed cutting was undertaken by Peak Training in January 2006 and FCC helped Derbyshire CC clear it all up.

Of course, there was the obligatory Health & Safety briefing to start with.............

"Will my photo get on the Web Site?"

There was still an amount of grappling to do................

........... and even the dog helped!

The opportunity was also taken to lop some overhanging trees back.

We even got the end of a stop plank, though how it got here we don't know!

Even a 2-wheeled truck was pressed into service, as there was a LOT to move!

It got quite congested at times..........
