Once again the Friends made a large contribution to the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Discovery Days on 20th & 21st October. On Saturday we had our sales stand, photographic display and slide show in the Gothic Warehouse at Cromford. Unfortunately the horse had been double booked so the Duchess was towed by tractor from Leawood to Cromford for static display.

The new exhibition trailer was on display, and admired by all!
On the Sunday, the horse, Billie Jim, hauled the Duchess up and down the canal to a crowd of admirers.

We also had our sponsored walk from Ambergate to Cromford and our Patron Julian Richards attended at Cromford, doing an excellent job selling raffle tickets before drawing the winning tickets.

On each day there were also guided canal walks, rope making demonstrations, paintings by Wallace Spence, and the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust stand, all entertained by Peter Keeting playing his street organ and bringing in the crowds.

Even the flotilla of ducks on the canal seemed to enjoy the attention!
Throughout the entire weekend the Leawood Pump was in steam, which drew a lot of visitors!
